What is A Digipak?

The Facts

A digipak is a form of packaging for CD's/DVD's (in this case I am looking at CD's). It is designed in the style of a book and the material used is a type of plastic covered card, digipak's either consist of 4 or 6 panels, depending on what is popular within the genre/what is going to be included.

In My Own Words

A digipak is a more creative and broader version of a regular album pack, it includes aspects that are not found in regular album packs such as posters, lyrics, exclusive material etc.

Digipak's are a promotional material that go the extra mile compared to a usual album simply because they include more to promote the artist. They are targeted at "superfans" and special features such as limited edition stickers are supposed to make them feel more special and in a way loyal to the artist as buying their digipak is a form of appreciation.

Skills Development - Editing

In terms of editing, I believe I picked up on some skills but developed most of my skills from AS. This then made me become more confident with using final cut pro.
Skills I’ve learnt over this process:
  •  How to create a music video and finding out what suits each genre in terms of transitions (Dubstep in this case)
  •  Editing to the beat of a track
  • How to fast forward and rewind
  •   How to change the frame of shot to create shot within a shot (used in the chorus of our music video)

Katy B Advertises SONY Headphones!

I came across this poster of Katy B advertising SONY headphones in the train station today, i thought it could inspire some work for if my group wanted to promote our artist further. I think the concept could be quite useful to use for an upcoming artist as the poster is really big and eye catching and in a place that is constantly busy. I thought it would also be good to see an upcoming artist promoting brands/technology aswell however it would have to be thought through as an artist who hasn't broken through yet wouldn't be chosen to model for SONY/APPLE etc.
