The Facts
A digipak is a form of packaging for CD's/DVD's (in this case I am looking at CD's). It is designed in the style of a book and the material used is a type of plastic covered card, digipak's either consist of 4 or 6 panels, depending on what is popular within the genre/what is going to be included.
In My Own Words
A digipak is a more creative and broader version of a regular album pack, it includes aspects that are not found in regular album packs such as posters, lyrics, exclusive material etc.
Digipak's are a promotional material that go the extra mile compared to a usual album simply because they include more to promote the artist. They are targeted at "superfans" and special features such as limited edition stickers are supposed to make them feel more special and in a way loyal to the artist as buying their digipak is a form of appreciation.
