Introducing our
song:
The song we have
chosen to make a music video for is Perfect Stranger by Katy B which falls
under the dub step genre. The original video is set in an eastern European
country (Kosovo/Romania) and is in black and white. The music video follows all three of
Goodwin’s ideas on relation between song and performance; illustration, because
the audience sees who Katy B is regarding as this “perfect stranger”, amplification,
because when Katy B and the stranger meet she is hesitant and pulls away from
him which questions the title of “perfect” and disjuncture because the whole
street scene with fire brigades and her fighting with a male are things that
don’t come to mind when listening to the lyrics and there is little connection.
How our video will
be different:
The main reason
our video will be different from the original is because it is going to be in
colour rather than black and white. Our
aim is to have loads of different shots and effects such as 360 shots and
re-wind’s. Our locations are following quite an urban/edgy feel such as
graffiti /brick walls, alleyways. Our relation between the song and the video
will link more to illustration and amplification because the story behind our
video will be based on the main character finding her “perfect stranger”.
